A high school girl was hit by a car on Thursday. She sustained a broken leg and other injuries but thankfully none are serious or life threatening, said Nevada Highway Patrol. She will be staying in the hospital for a few days.

Due to the victim being a juvenile, amongst other reasons, police will not be releasing her name.

A Carson City woman was traveling northbound in the right hand lane in her Chevy Malibu when she reportedly hit the girl, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The 17-year-old girl was transported by helicopter to Reno after she was hit when crossing Highway 88 next to Douglas High School just after 9:30am, according to reports by Highway Patrol.

The District Attorney will decide if charges will be file after the ongoing investigation is completed.
