Department of Public Safety - Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the scene of a single car accident that happened at the intersection of SR 429 and Eastlake Blvd, near Washoe Valley, on Wednesday.

Preliminary reports suggest the 20-year-old woman, of Washoe Valley, was traveling south at a high rate of speed on Eastlake Blvd in her 2003 Ford sedan when she failed to stop at a stop sign, continuing through the intersection, where she struck a concrete wall barrier.

She died at the scene from fatal injuries she sustained in the crash.

NHP is investigating the accident and asks witnesses to please contact them.
