Interstate 15 traffic lanes in downtown Las Vegas have been reopened following a fatal motorcycle crash yesterday.

The motorcyclist, which has not yet been identified, was killed when he crashed into a concrete median just after 7:30 p.m. and was thrown from his bike into oncoming traffic near Lake Mead Blvd., said Nevada Highway Patrol.

According to witnesses, before the accident the motorcyclist was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed.

Each year, more than 2,200 people are killed and more than 55,000 are injured in motorcycle accidents.
